Final Fantasy XI
Does anyone on this forum play or had played FinalFantasyXI? Just wondering, since some of the people in my guild here have played it, too.
Post your server and chars. I'm hoping maybe I'll see someone I know. ^^

I used to play. I left due to one of the steepest grinds in all of gaming, the lack of monsters per area (bunnies bunnies everywhere!), lack of distinction in equipment, a lackluster crafting system, and the inability to solo to an effectiveness unless you were a beastmaster.

I used to play FFXI on the Fairy Server. I was a level 74 MNK/WAR in a really, really good HNM (Huge/Hyper Notorious Monster) guild called notED... but it got old very quickly. Leveling was a huge grind, where you spent hours killing the same kind of mob... constantly... so annoying.
So I came to GW, where there was (from what I could tell) no leveling grind, no NM camping, and you could even solo through the game if one were so inclined. It's a better atmosphere for me... although I have to admit, I kinda miss the huge variety in outfits. :P

Tell me about it, I was horrified from the grinding. I even bought a gamepad for my computer to play it and it didnt do any good. It was fun for a week or so...

I thank myself everyday for quitting that game. I don't mind grinding, as long as I can actually grind. But FFXI was nearly as bad as EverCrack for camping spots and spawns.

I hated the grinding too, almost costed a RL relationship because I couldn't get off the computer in time, and when I did, the team spoke badly about me. I should have learned back then to tell them to screw themselves, because getting some hot loving is so much better.
I'm glad I left too.

I actually like FINAL FANTASY XI ONLINE, but Guild Wars is far superior in many ways. The sad thing about that game was the screwed ecnonomic system, the only way to make money was to start a casino or camp monsters.
If you chose the casino: Every man in every town flamed you like you would never burn out. It was a great way to lose friends.
If you chose the spawn-camping: A pack of thirty thieves would come and kill it before you even saw the god thing and anyways, most mobs took hours to spawn.
Overall it was a decent game besides the messed economy, repititive combat, grind and stupid PvP.

For all those reasons I had left the game, too. Also because of the fact that it was ruining my RL relationships with my family, school, and friends.
I didn't really need all that stress.
I was always in trouble and began to have a lack of interest in my schoolwork and participation in any other activities. I didn't go out to the movies with my friends like I usually would, I didn't go over any of my friends houses, didn't shop at the mall, didn't hang out with anyone, and I was very disrespectful to my whole entire family daily. Just so I could play that game.
You could kinda call it obssession. I get attached to things fairly quickly. =)
Not saying that GW would be the same thing. But there aren't Static parties or LS meetings that I HAVE to be on the computer for. I don't have to worry about farming a million orcs for fire crystals, or Forest tigers for their fangs and hides. Don't have to worry about getting to the next level and having to worry about getting the money for the next spells, armor, and weapon.
And I don't have to pay monthly fees. I perfer this game a lot better. =)

Delete your characters.
Unsubscribe your content IDs.
Cancel your payment.
Wait about a month or so.
That's how I think it's done.
